Weddings can be a joyous celebration that symbolise the union of a couple. They bring together people and close friends for a one of a kind event this is a yearly incident for many. Yet , in the past, marriage ceremonies used to always be much more than that, these were a way of remembering a special bond and a new life. The Balkans used to have a whole lot of interesting traditions neighboring marriage, some of which are still alive single slovenia women today while others are generally lost with time. The comb and plaiting rite, or “Kolaanja”, is a crucial ritual in Albanian culture. It’s just performed by girls which is accompanied with specially dedicated sounds. After the brush and plaiting rite, the groom is normally shaved. Similarly, the groom’s mother is also shaved at the same time. This rite is an essential component from the wedding formulations.

One of these is a marriage ceremony tradition which involves the new bride licking baby from the side of her mother-in-law. It is assumed that the function will ensure the couple’s happiness and prosperity.

Another traditional custom coming from Kosovo is a “Dever” (the good friend of the groom). This gentleman is supposed to stay by bride’s aspect until the girl with led away from her father’s house. This kind of custom is known as a way of demonstrating the bride’s close relationship with her mother-in-law and her devotion to her family group.

Bulgarian ancestors had many superstitions encircling the wedding procession. After arrival on the groom’s house, the bride was greeted simply by her mother-in-law who had to welcome her by giving her candy or honey. That was believed this would stop her from having babies that aren’t boys. Moreover, the mother-in-law would likewise give her a boy toy as a sign of good good fortune for her and her spouse.

In Montenegro, there was a custom known as “tuzlanski zvizduk” in which the groom’s fully equipped friends would take the bride to his home. This kind of ceremony was designated with a noisy horn boost. The couple consequently sat straight down for a wedding feast.

During the marriage feast, there were often a party, or kolo, in which guests joined in a circle to dance. The flow was generally accompanied by people music and songs. During the kolo, the groom’s members of the family would sing special tracks to welcome the bride.

Besides the dancing and singing, there has been many other incidents that took place in the wedding. A Kum (best man) was chosen and he was decorated with flowers and a container of rakija. The Kum then went to the groom’s close friends and offered these people a sip of rakija. This way, they accepted the party invitation to the marriage ceremony. Those who did not, were viewed as bad guests. Interestingly enough, this same custom is still followed in some regions.
